Syuan Yun is a freelance visual designer from Taiwan who studied Design for People in Designskolen Kolding.
She specialize in designing for sustainability and social innovation with a deep understanding and empathy for humans and society.
“I have been working closely together with Ksenia Grigoryeva in developing an integrated digital product called “Human to Human.” It’s an online platform with audio stories that we co-designed with people from the LGBTQ+ community.
To reach out to more people, there are postcards and stickers with QR codes to access the audio stories websites. The postcards and stickers in the public spaces can expand the campaign’s scale, reach out and connect more people. People can access the web and listen to the audio track while reading them.”
“By listening to people who experienced the stories, we create a bridge and more profound compassion and empathy.
Our research found out that LGBTQ+ people in Denmark have experienced loneliness due to discrimination and are considered different from the norms.”
“The loneliness and misunderstanding between people are also harmful to our society. Therefore, we would like to build a bridge between people from different communities, see people behind labels, and open a conversation between human to human.”
“I work with sustainability in terms of design. To be more specific, I’m working on the sustainability of people and society. Meanwhile, I not only work with sustainability through designing products, but I also begin to share this idea by holding co-design workshops with design students.”
“In Maker and Viadukten, we had the chance to meet and learn with people from different design specialties and work together for a more sustainable society.
The workshops and the great people in Maker gave us lots of advice, resources, and opportunities to improve our product. Thanks to Maker, we had the chance to join two different exhibitions in Copenhagen, sharing our product and helping more people from the LGBTQ+ community!
The community was helpful to our work. Although we didn’t have much time to stay in the workshop due to our school work, people from the community were willing to share their knowledge and support us whenever we reached out to them!”
If you were to recommend Maker, what would your recommendation be?
“Suppose you are a designer with a great design product/ prototype/ ideas and have a great passion for designing for sustainability. In that case, you should join Maker and boost your design with exciting people in the well-equipped workshops and opportunities around.”
